Position Overview

Gifted Music School seeks an engaging and experienced music education specialist to teach after-school general musicianship classes at the Guadalupe School in Salt Lake City, UT. The teaching artist will be expected to provide a Kodály influenced general music curriculum to students grades K-6 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated evidence of successful teaching in a group setting; commit to maintaining a reliable schedule and attending all classes throughout the school year; consistently participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities; possess a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and meeting the needs of a diverse population; and have an earnest desire to make their teaching work a career priority. The school is seeking candidates who have excellent communication skills, can comfortably direct support staff and parent volunteers, and are able to contribute to a high-performance team environment while being supportive of colleagues, staff, parents, and students.
Hourly wage commensurate with the candidate’s credentials and experience. The hours for the 2021-22 school year are MTH from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.




  1. Minimum of a BA or BM in music or music education or equivalent experience. MA, MM, MMA, or DMA in Kodaly, Pedagogy, or Music Education preferred.
  2. Kodály certification from an OAKE-endorsed program is preferred. Commitment to continuous training and professional development.
  3. Interest in and ability to teach young students of varying levels, grades K-6.
  4. Demonstrated English proficiency; Spanish or other language would be a strong asset.
