Preparatory Description and Curriculum

Description: The Preparatory is a complete community music program for all children, ages 3-18. Programs offered include:

  • One-on-one, private lessons with world class faculty.
    • Piano
    • Violin
    • Viola
    • Cello
    • Voice
    • Guitar
  • Theory, choir, and musicianship classes
  • Group Guitar instruction (beginning Summer 2012)
  • Official Suzuki Strings Program
    • Individual and group lessons, all taught by top certified and qualified teachers.
    • Pre-twinkler classes–ages 3-5.

  Curriculum: The Preparatory implements a world-level organized curriculum developed by leading teachers. All students are initially  evaluated and placed into appropriate music grade levels. All students are expected to practice, study, and progress at an appropriate pace.  Examination juries held by the GMSPD faculty are held every semester to monitor progress. Parents/guardians are expected to attend all private lessons and be involved in the music education of the child. Limited scholarship assistance is offered to financially qualifying families as well to students who qualify for a merit-based scholarship.
